I receive a hot mocha latter when I had wanted the cold version so I go up to the counter and ask about it. I don't really read the menus of coffee places thoroughly and I don't always know if they have a hot and cold version of their drinks. Since I've always gotten cold lattes without having to order for it specifically, I assumed that what I was ordering was going to be served cold.
Me: Mocha latte ba to? (Is this mocha latte?)
Barista: Yes ma'am.
Me: But I thought it was a cold drink. (look at the menu) I wanted the cold one.
Barista: But the order says hot.
Me: Yeah but I want the cold one.
Barista asks the supervisor, who shall remain nameless, about the situation and shows her the order slip. You see, the supervisor was the one who took my order.
Me: I want the cold mocha latte.
Supervisor: Hindi mo naman sinabi na gusto mo ng cold eh. (But you didn't tell me that you wanted the cold one.)
Me: Isn't that your job to ask me which one I want as I order? It's not like I know that you have both kinds.
Supervisor: Sige, lagyan na lang ng ice. (Okay, we'll just put ice in it to make it cold.)
The supervisor hands the cup to the barista and told her to just pour the drink into a plastic cup and put ice in it. Yeah, wise move. Thanks for my tasteless and watered down mocha latte.
And to think that I go to this branch often and this has never happened before. The only difference? Today, the supervisor was here. Sana wala na lang siya. And the best service award goes to...

When we say sorry, it’s always with the hope that we don’t repeat our mistakes, especially when we know there will be some people who will get hurt. But, as I have learned the hard way, some people just say sorry to get things over with without any plans of making a conscious effort of not doing the same mistake over and over again.
