2012 is turning out to be a year of firsts.

Anyone who knows me well knows that I would rather lounge around the house than get up and do a physical activity. I like my laziness. But a month ago, I started work for MoveForMove100, an advocacy campaign that celebrates real-life stories of people, places, and events about moving. We hope to encourage people to inspire others to start moving or keep on moving themselves.

And I guess it’s sort of worked for me, thanks to the fiance and our friend Arvin. They wanted to join RunRio’s Go Natural Run 2012 and invited me along, and I thought, why the heck not?

The reasons why I decided to join were: (1) I wanted to not fake my way through my current job, (2) We’ve agreed on doing the 3k run, which I’ve done before on occasional jogging experiences, (3) I wanted to try out something new this year, (4) I want to challenge myself, (5) I wanted to support the fiance and Arvin, and (6) Most importantly, it’s for a cause that I want to support.

Go Natural 2012 is a run for education of early age diabetes. I have loved ones who are diabetic and of course, education is dear to my heart, so it’s really supporting two things that I care about. For me, there’s no better run to start with than this.

So, tonight, all three of us headed to Riovana High Street to sign up and pay the fees. With only a week before the run, we didn’t really have many choices to choose from for the singlets so I ended up getting a LARGE in blue. If you happen to be in Bonifacio Global City on January 15 at 6am, and see a tiny girl wearing a big singlet, that’s probably me. Wish me luck!

Do you run too? And are you joining this run?

Side-topic: We’re actually chronicling Arvin’s progress as he trains for the Dream Marathon on March 18. He joined the marathon training with only 3 months to spare, while the other Dream Marathoners started with 6 months! It was really crazy but we’re rooting for him and helping him as much as we can. Watch his videos here, here, here, and here.
