The (Sort of) Proposal
This happened when the boyfriend and I were discussing being “meant to be”.
He didn’t use to believe in fate and people being meant for each other so when he started talking about it earlier, I just had to ask him why he believes in it now.
He talked about how people, even the person we love, constantly change and that despite the changes, we find ourselves loving that person still. It must be because that some part of that person remains constant and pinned it down to the soul. It’s our souls that don’t change, that keep us who we are and makes us recognizable to others.
Then he went on to say that when we first met, our souls could have already determined that we were the ones for each other, it’s just that our minds weren’t able to keep up. We were in our own separate relationships at the time but our souls, knowing that we were meant to be, kept pulling us back together.
My boyfriend, as sweet as he is, still surprises me whenever he becomes all romantic because he wasn’t at all romantic when we’d started going out. So I teased him about it.
I laughed and said, “That sounds like a prologue to a proposal.”
He looked at me, smiled and said, “Hon, our entire relationship is like a prologue to a proposal.”
And I melted, right then and there.
He’d better remember everything he said tonight because I’ll never settle for anything less when he finally decides to do the real thing. :P
